Safeguarding

Promoting a safer church for everyone

All people are made in God's image and thus have immeasurable dignity and valueWe want to continue to be a church where all people are welcomed and can participate fully. We want to be an open community where people of all ages gather and interact. We want to be a Church where children, young people and vulnerable adults are fully engaged and have every opportunity to flourish and grow.

When Jesus uttered his beautiful words, ‘let the children come to me and do not hinder them’ (Matt 19:14) he set the benchmark for us. In all its actions and programs, we seek to maintain high ethical standards and work in accordance with child-safe practices and child protection reporting guidelines. The participation and empowerment of all children and vulnerable adults is a consideration in decision-making, as we seek to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all people are respected and listened to.

Emmanuel church has zero tolerance of abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures. We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously. We are committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks. All our children's leaders are Safeguarding trained and DBS checked.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger contact the police immediately on 999

Alternatively, if you have any concerns, inquiries, or questions relating to Safeguarding please get in touch with our church Safeguarding co-ordinator:  Kimberley Wall - Ph: 07494-616416.

Please note: Our services are live-streamed to youtube. The camera faces the front of the church from the steps up to the sanctuary. This means that the children's talk and notices are live-streamed. If you have concerns about this, please speak to our Families and Children's leader Katerina.
We are fully compliant with GDPR and the Safeguarding of Children. We always strive to obtain permission from parents for their children to be visible on our livestreams and in photos used on our social media etc. However as every service is live-streamed, and we have new people attending nearly every week, sometimes it is not always possible to obtain permission before the service, however, notices are up in the church advising people of the areas which will be visible online.
