Worship With Us
'I was glad when they said to me "let us go in to the house of the Lord"'
-Psalm 122:1
The Lord be with you
Emmanuel Church sits facing beautiful Morecambe Bay. We don't have our own car park however there are many nearby, the closest is just one street up, on Church Lane and there are plenty of parking spaces along the promenade and side streets. Entry to the church is via the left-side double doors while our front entry is being renovated. There is a space just inside the door to leave your umbrellas and coats etc.
Our main service is on every Sunday at 10:00am. There are no assigned seats, so please sit wherever you feel comfortable. We use service booklets so it's easy to follow along and the congregation participates in the responses and singing hymns. It is a traditional Book of Common Prayer service and our clergy and choir dress in traditional robes, for some, this is comforting and familiar but for others its new and strange. We do this because we believe in maintaining ancient Christian traditions that have not changed for thousands of years as a way of continuing the faith of the apostles.
Communion
If you have been baptised in an orthodox Christian church, you are welcome to receive communion with us. If not, you are still welcome to come up and receive a blessing. Communion is given at the communion rail near the Lord's Table. If you are not able to come up to the rail, please let someone know and we will arrange for it to be brought to you in your seat.
Children are welcome at all our services, we have a kid's corner and many children sit with their parents and participate in the worship together. We also have a children's talk from the Vicar during this service and hopefully soon we will have a Sunday School set up.
After every service we stay for fellowship, with endless cake and hot drinks. On the first Sunday of the month our church shares a huge 'Bring & Share' meal together - everyone is most welcome to join us.

Our Holy Communion in the middle of the week is held on Wednesday mornings, it is a much smaller, contemplative service and the congregation sits in the choir stalls (pews) very close to the Lord's Table. We do not usually have music at this service, although sometimes we sing some hymns acapella. It is a peaceful refuge of ancient Christian faith in the midst of a world gone mad. Everyone is most welcome to join us and we usually stay for a short time of fellowship and refreshments after the service.
At Emmanuel the Bible is central to our lives, the scripture comes from God and therefore has authority from the Lord, it is incapable of error and guides us in how to live our lives. Our Wednesday evening bible study group is casual and fun, we don't use study books but simply gather together around the Bible and do a deep dive into how it applies to our lives today, praying together to hear God speak through the pages of the word.
